Luma prices a ring in two parts, and it is worth understanding before you compare us to anyone else.
The price shown on each ring page is the setting. That covers the metal, the design and the workmanship in our Hatton Garden workshop. Settings start at £670.
You choose your diamond separately at step three of the ring builder, and we price it there. We price each stone live at the moment you choose it, based on what is available, so what you pay tracks the real market for that exact diamond rather than a fixed list we set in advance. A half carat and a three carat are very different numbers, which is why we do not publish one price for the stone.
You see the setting, the diamond and the total together before you order. We add nothing at checkout.
What you are actually paying for
Three things set the price of any engagement ring: the diamond, the metal and the setting.
The diamond is the biggest variable. A larger carat, a higher colour and clarity, and a finer cut all raise the price. Because our diamonds are lab grown and independently certified, you can move up in size or quality for a fraction of what a mined stone would cost.
Metal comes next. The same design costs less in 9k gold than in 18k gold or platinum, because heavier gold purities and platinum use more precious material. On our Anouk solitaire, for example, the setting runs from £670 in 9k gold and rises as you move to 18k gold or platinum.
Then there is the design itself. A plain solitaire holds one diamond, so it sits at the lower end. A hidden halo or a trilogy adds more diamonds and more work, so it costs more.

Setting price by carat
A setting built to hold a three carat stone uses more metal and more work than one built for half a carat, so the setting price climbs with the size of the diamond it carries. Here is that range for a plain solitaire. These are setting prices, not finished ring prices, and we price your diamond on top.

A lab grown diamond is the same material as a mined one, with the same hardness, clarity and sparkle. The only difference is where it grew. A mined diamond carries the cost of extraction and a long supply chain, and a lab grown diamond does not, so the same specification of stone costs a great deal less.
