About Luma

Who are Luma Jewellery?

Luma Jewellery is a London jeweller specialising in lab grown diamond engagement rings, wedding bands and everyday fine jewellery. We design and make our pieces in Hatton Garden and sell direct, which removes the traditional retail markup. Luma was founded in 2024 by Asher Wiener and Amir Sharabi.

Where is Luma based?

We are based in Hatton Garden, London, the historic centre of the UK jewellery trade. Our studio at 13 Hatton Place, London EC1N 8RU runs by appointment.

Does Luma have a shop I can walk into?

Our Hatton Garden studio is open by appointment only and is set up for consultations rather than browsing. Most customers buy online. To see pieces in person or talk through a design, book an appointment and we will set time aside for you.

Is Luma's jewellery made in the UK?

Yes. Every piece is designed and made to order in Hatton Garden, London.

Lab grown diamonds

Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same chemical composition, crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is origin: one forms underground, the other is grown in a controlled environment. Read more in our full guide.

How are lab grown diamonds different from mined diamonds?

The only difference is how they are created. Optically, physically and chemically they are identical. Lab grown diamonds are graded on the same four Cs by the same laboratories, and they typically cost significantly less than a mined diamond of the same specification.

Are Luma's diamonds certified?

Yes. Every Luma diamond is independently graded, most by the IGI and some by the GIA, on cut, colour, clarity and carat. Each lab grown diamond also carries a laser inscription of its report number on the girdle, invisible to the naked eye.

Will a lab grown diamond pass a diamond tester?

Yes. A diamond tester measures thermal conductivity, which is the same in lab grown and mined diamonds, so it reads as diamond because it is diamond.

Do lab grown diamonds lose their sparkle or go cloudy?

No. A lab grown diamond has the same hardness and durability as a mined diamond. With normal care it keeps its brilliance for life.

Are lab grown diamonds ethical?

Lab grown diamonds involve no mining, which means no land disruption and a fully traceable origin. They are conflict free because they are created in a controlled environment rather than extracted from the earth.

Does Luma sell mined diamonds too?

Our focus is lab grown diamonds. We also offer a small curated selection of pre owned mined diamonds for customers who prefer a natural stone without the impact of new mining.

Customising your piece

Can I customise my ring?

Yes. Most Luma engagement rings are fully customisable. You choose the diamond shape, carat weight, metal and setting on the product page, and the price updates as you go.

What metals does Luma offer?

We work in 9K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, white and rose, and 950 platinum. You select your metal when customising your piece.

Does Luma make bespoke pieces?

Yes. If our existing designs are not quite right, our bespoke service designs a piece from scratch with you. Get in touch to start a commission.

What diamond shapes are available?

Round, oval, emerald, pear, cushion, marquise, princess, radiant, asscher and heart. You choose your shape when customising any ring.

Pricing and payment

How much do Luma's pieces cost?

Engagement rings start from £820 and everyday diamond jewellery from around £500. The final price depends on the diamond, metal and setting you choose. All prices are in GBP and include VAT.

Why is Luma more affordable than a traditional jeweller?

We design, make and sell direct from Hatton Garden with no wholesale layer and no retail markup. Combined with lab grown diamonds, that means you pay for the stone, the metal and the craft, not a chain of margins.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Klarna and bank transfer.

Do you offer finance or payment plans?

Yes. Klarna is available at checkout. You can split your payment into three interest free instalments or apply for longer term financing through Klarna directly.

Returns and cancellations

Can I return my order?

Most Luma pieces are made to order, which means they are personalised to your specifications and not subject to the 14 day distance selling cancellation right. As a goodwill gesture, we accept returns on these pieces within 14 days of receipt and issue store credit so you can choose something else. Ready to ship pieces returned within 14 days are refunded to your original payment method per UK consumer law. Bespoke, engraved and pierced pieces cannot be returned unless faulty.

What if my item is faulty?

If a piece has a manufacturing fault, contact info@lumajewellery.com with your order number and a photo. We assess returned items within 1 to 5 business days and repair or replace anything covered, at no cost to you.

Is there a cost to return an item?

A refundable postage deposit applies, £40 for UK returns and £150 for international. If a manufacturing fault is confirmed, the deposit is refunded in full.

How do refunds work?

Made to order pieces are refunded as store credit. Ready to ship pieces returned within 14 days under UK consumer law are refunded to your original payment method. Either way, approved refunds are processed within 3 to 7 business days.

Warranty and aftercare

Does Luma offer a warranty?

Yes. Every Luma piece is covered by a 1 year manufacturing warranty against defects in craftsmanship, such as a faulty setting or a clasp that fails. It does not cover wear and tear, accidental damage, loss or repairs by another jeweller.

My ring does not fit, can it be resized?

Engagement rings include one free resize within 12 months of purchase. Other ring styles can be resized for a fee. Some styles, such as full eternity rings, cannot be resized, which we confirm before you order.

How do I care for my jewellery?

Take rings off for hands on work, sport and heavy housework, keep pieces away from chlorine and harsh chemicals, and store them separately. We offer professional cleaning and polishing for £20.

Should I insure my jewellery?

We recommend it. The warranty covers manufacturing faults but not loss, theft or accidental damage. Most home contents policies can be extended to cover jewellery, or you can take out a specialist policy.
