Spinning usually means the band is slightly too loose, especially if your knuckle is larger than the base of your finger, which is common. The most reliable fix is a resize down by a quarter or half size, which most jewellers can do in a week.
If you cannot resize (because of family heirloom inscriptions, or because finger size fluctuates with weather and pregnancy), there are mechanical options. Sizing beads added inside the band create two small bumps that press against the back of the finger and stop rotation. A ring guard or band reducer is a small metal sleeve fitted to the back of the band, useful for solitaires where the top of the ring is heavier than the base.
Weight distribution matters too. A ring with a tall head and a slim band is top heavy, so it turns more than one where the head sits lower. If you are still choosing, compare head height across our ring settings, and look at how a classic solitaire such as the Clio sits on the hand.
For temporary fixes, silicone ring snuggies or plastic sizers work, but they are short term solutions. At Luma we resize most rings for free in the first year.
