Oval Engagement Rings

An oval diamond reads larger than a round of the same weight and lengthens the finger as you wear it. Every Luma setting can be built around one, with a lab grown centre from 1.5ct, and our engagement rings are made to order from £680. We make each one in Hatton Garden and price it directly, without the retail markup.

Why an oval

The oval is one of the most asked for shapes in an engagement ring, and the reason is mostly optical. Its long axis spreads the same carat weight over more surface, so an oval face looks bigger than a round brilliant of equal weight. The elongated outline also flatters the hand. It is a brilliant cut underneath, so it keeps the fire and sparkle people expect from a round, in a softer silhouette.

How to build yours

Each Luma ring starts as a setting. You choose the style, then the diamond, then the metal. An oval works across the whole range. It sits cleanly in a four claw solitaire, gains presence inside a halo, and balances a three stone design with tapered stones either side. If you want a place to start, the Amaris solitaire, the Odette halo and the Thessa three stone all suit an oval well. You can see the full range on the engagement rings page.

The diamonds

Every centre stone is a lab grown diamond, the same material as a mined one with the same hardness, clarity grades and sparkle. The only difference is origin. Oval centres run from 1.5ct upward, and each stone is independently certified. You see the exact diamond and its certificate before anything is set.

Metals and pricing

Choose 9k or 18k gold in white, yellow or rose, or platinum. Our lab grown engagement rings are made to order from £680, and because we sell direct you pay for the ring and the diamond, not a shopfront on top.

Made in Hatton Garden

We design and make in Hatton Garden, the centre of the London jewellery trade. If you want to compare oval stones, carat weights and settings in person, book a consultation and a jeweller will take you through the options. There is no shop floor to browse, just a quiet room and the people who make the rings.

Questions

Do oval diamonds look bigger than round?

Yes. An oval spreads its weight along a longer axis, so it shows a larger face than a round brilliant of the same carat weight. Many people choose a slightly lower carat in an oval and still get the size they pictured.

How much is an oval lab grown engagement ring at Luma?

Our lab grown engagement rings are made to order from £680, and oval designs sit across the range. The price depends on the setting, the metal and the diamond you choose, and you see the full price before you commit.

Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab grown diamond is the same material as a mined one, with the same hardness, clarity and sparkle. The difference is where it was made. Ours are independently certified.

Can I see the ring before it is made?

You approve your exact diamond and its certificate first, then we make the ring to order. You can do this remotely or at a consultation in Hatton Garden.
